Summary-
    Asshole is similar to hearts and bridge.  Players play tricks and attempt to empty their hand first.  The last player to play all their cards is the Asshole for the next round.   

Equipment-

·         One cup per player

·         Large table everyone can sit at

·         Deck of playing cards

·         Beer or mixed drink of choice

·         An Asshole hat

Set up-
    Players sit around the table and the Asshole (the person to place last in the previous round, see below) shuffles and deals the cards until all the cards are dealt, in a clockwise rotation.  If this is the first game, each player is dealt one card from the deck and player with the lowest card is designated as the Asshole.

Game Play-
The player on the dealer's left begins by leading any card, or set of matching cards. The player to their left may then play any card(s) with a higher value or pass. In Asshole 2s are high, followed by Aces, Kings, Queens and so on.  Spades is the highest value suit followed by hearts, then clubs, then diamonds.  Any pair, three of a kind, or four of a kind is higher than a single card.  For example, if the first player plays a single 10, then the second player may play a pair of 5s or a King. Five card poker hands such as straights, flushes, or full houses may not be played. The next player may then play a higher card or pair, and so on. This continues until all players pass at which point the last person to play a card leads the next trick and may begin the trick with any card or set of cards.  If a player passes then they must take a sip of their drink.  The game continues until each player runs out of cards,  the first player to play all their cards wins, the second player finishes second and so on.  Special card rules are:

• A 2 card is a "clear", meaning all played cards are removed by the asshole, and the person playing the 2 starts again
• A 4 card is a "social", meaning all players must drink. This card may be played on any card or combination of cards. The next player must play on the card(s) played before the 4.
• When a player matches the previously played card, then one player's turn is skipped for each prior matching card played. Any skipped players must drink. For example, player one plays a King and player two then also plays a King, then player three is skipped and must drink. If player 4 plays a King then player 5 and 6 are skipped and must drink.

After each round titles are handed out.  They are:

President - The winner of the previous round. He or she has the power to add one rule to the game at the beginning of the round. A Presidential rule stays in effect until a future Presidential rule repeals or contradicts it.  They also may request their drink is refilled by the Asshole at any time.

Vice President – The second place finisher in the previous round. They may request their drink is refilled by the Asshole at any time.

Constituent – Anyone who finished after the Vice President and before the Asshole.

Asshole – The last place finisher in the previous round.  The Asshole must wear the Asshole hat (an empty beer carton or any other ridiculous hat works) and is responsible for refilling the VP and President’s drinks and shuffling and dealing the next round.

After titles are assigned the seating is rearranged so that the President sits to the left of the Asshole, the VP to the left of the president and the constituents to the left of the VP.
